Flying faster than the stream
Ready for a unique challenge?
Join the forefront of clean energy
We fly kites underwater, and we fly way faster than the stream. If you're looking for an inspiring challenge in a high-tech environment and want to create impact for a sustainable future, you've come to the right place.
-
Impact through technology
The world's growing demand for green electricity pushes the need for new, clean energy. Unlocking predictable ocean energy from tidal streams and ocean currents is an important complement to wind and solar.
-
High-paced and international
Harnessing energy from tidal streams and ocean currents, we're going after the best sites on our blue planet.
-
Wild at heart
We're a passionate, dedicated team driven by the challenge of finding a new way towards a balanced energy mix for a sustainable future.
The world needs clean, secure and affordable energy
The global energy system is transforming towards renewable production, with large scale build-out of solar and wind generation on a commercial basis. However, the intermittency of wind and solar is a major problem. To achieve a fully renewable system that is both secure and affordable, other components such as storage and predictable energy generation must be added to the mix. The Deep Green technology, developed by Minesto, offers a novel solution to this challenge. It produces electricity from 100% predictable slow tides and ocean currents , using less material and benefitting from cost-effective installation and operations compared with competing technologies.

Minesto offers an inspiring environment, because our technology is such a unique and novel system – no one has done this before! As a Hydrodynamics Design Engineer, my work involves creating a design that considers the kite geometry as well as the flying conditions so that the kite system can perform efficiently during the whole flight path. It’s about understanding how the kite system behaves, and how to maximise the power output – that’s our highest priority.

My role here as Mechanical Design Engineer at Minesto is very interesting because the company is close-knitted and growing, which means that I get to follow the entire process from design to product. Thus, I am able to influence the process and demonstrate my skills and expertise on a greater level. Contributing to accelerating the green transition by purposeful design feels meaningful and motivating.
